Kieran Gibbs has declared he is ready to fight for his place in the England set-up. Places for left-back already look cemented with Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines but Gibbs is determined to fight for the chance.
The Arsenal full-back has impressed in the opening stages of the season which has seen Spain international Nacho Monreal locked to the bench. The 23-year is glad he is over his injury problems and wants to target England now.
“I just have to see it as a challenge and stay fit and concentrate on the [Arsenal] team and give myself the best chance.”
Gibbs recognises the talent that’s infront of him labelling both Cole and Baines ‘world-class’ but is relishing the battle.
“It is a challenge to compete against two world-class left backs, both at the top of their games.”
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League with Gibbs starting all of their league games so far and has been one of their most consistent performers, even helping the club in the Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce by scoring the opener.
