Carlos Tevez’s £10 million move to Juventus may have pushed the wheels in motion for Gonzalo Higuain’s move to Arsenal. The Argentine joined the Italian champions earlier this week after weeks of speculation linking them with Gunners target Higuain.
The Real Madrid forward has reportedly agreed personal terms of around £115-130,000-a-week making him the clubs highest earner while the two clubs have agreed a £22 million fee which would also make him the club’s transfer record signing.
Higuain has been chased by both Arsenal and Juventus this summer but Tevez’s move to Juventus suggests that Arsenal may have won the race for his name. The 25-year old’s brother Nicolas confirmed his brother is close to a move to London after Tevez completed his move to the Old Lady.
“If Tevez joins Juve, is Higuain closer to Arsenal? I think so.” He admitted. “Juventus is a great club but Gonzalo is too expensive for them. I cannot deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment at Real Madrid should help speed things along with former Real boss Jose Mourinho unlikely to sell a player of Higuain’s calibre to Arsene Wenger. Tevez’s move to Juve opens up a straight-forward transfer for Higuain to join the Gunners.
The Higuain transfer saga is starting to frustrate Arsenal fans after several summers of torment. They may have to wait that little bit more but sources suggest a move is imminent.
