OLIVIER GIROUD has opened up on the differences between playing for Chelsea and former club Arsenal.
After five-and-half-seasons at Arsenal, Giroud left the Emirates in a £18m deal on transfer deadline day.
After a cameo appearance against Watford last week, Giroud was handed his first start for his new club and made an immediate impact with an assist for Eden Hazard’s opening goal of the night.
Victor Moses and another Hazard strike sealed a 3-0 victory for Chelsea to keep them fourth in the Premier League.
And after the match, Giroud revealed he found it easier to play with Hazard compared to the playmakers at Arsenal.
He said: “It’s simple to have a good understanding with Hazard because he smells the game, he smells the football.
“We need to work on the relationship in training and then to do it in games. It’s easy for me, because the No10s play closer than those I might have played with in the past. It’s very important for our game.
“We could have been more efficient, Eden and I. He could have assisted me and I could have scored, but hopefully in the next game. Anyway, I am happy for him to score two goals.”
