The Mail has reported that Real Sociedad want the Gunners to sell ‘their 3.5million buy-back option on striker Carlos Vela.’ An interesting scenario is brewing if you ask me, and we could look to profit from it if we play our cards the right way.
According to the paper, Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay and his vice, Angel Oyarzun were in the London over the weekend to secure the former Arsenal man’s 50% rights retained when he was sold to the Spanish club last summer.
According to the paper, Arsenal only want a total of £8 Million, which is a bargain considering the player’s current rating. The Spanish club has until July 1 to reach an agreement with Arsenal if they want to retain 100% right to the Mexican.
It is obvious from this report that the Spanish club wants to remove the clause from Vela’s contract, but Arsenal could profit from this deal since the club is also monitoring Antoine Griezmann. Wenger sees a lot of potential in Griezmann and recently compared him to Arsenal legend Robert Perez after scoring a textbook goal against Paraguay last week.
Arsenal want Griezmann, and Sociedad also want full ownership of Vela. I don’t see why both clubs can’t reach a compromise at the end of the day. By selling us Griezmann for £12 Million, Aperribay could have full ownership of the Mexican. That means they get total of £20m which is Griezmann’s faire value if you ask me. If Sociedad truly wants Vela and Arsene Wenger truly wants Griezmann, I don’t see how a deal can’t be done this way. Sociedad can
Do Arsenal really need Griezmann?
I will say yes to that question based on the fact the Frenchman is a natural winger who could boost our attacking options. Theo is the only natural winger in the team, and given our injury records, having an extra natural winger will give us depth.
Griezmann is a versatile player whose inclusion in the Arsenal team will probably give us a lot of attacking option. His ability to play from the left side of the midfield and also as a centre forward are some of the reasons why several clubs are queuing for his signature.
He is definitely the sort of player we can do with right now especially if you consider the hot today cold tomorrow nature of Podolski’s performance ever since he joined us 2 years ago.
Do you think we can get Griezmann in exchange for the clause in Vela’s contract?
