We are just a week to the close of the transfer window but anything is still possible in the transfer window.
You’d expect the club to make their signings on time so that new players will be able to acclimatize with the weather of their new destination and bed into the team before the season fully kicks off.
However, Wenger is known for leaving some deals very late like he did when he signed Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker. Latest reports according to Squawka claims Arsene Wenger is plotting a sensational and secret £60m swoop for France international Antoine Griezmann, and he will attempt to complete the deal before the close of the window.
Arsenal have been unable to sign an attacker this summer with Wenger claiming he is struggling find the right players for the club. Griezmann falls into the category of player Wenger would definitely want to sign.
However, journalist Greg Stobart has claimed in his Squawka article today that Wenger has been working on a deal for Griezmann behind the scenes and is prepared to spend more than £60m signing the French international.
There is no telling if Rojiblancos will allow the player to leave anytime soon but Griezmann has said he would move to the Premier League in future and Wenger will be looking to lure his compatriot to the Emirates.
Wenger has always said he won’t pay over the odds unless the player is worth it and a prime example is Lacazette. Apparently Lyon now want around £50m-£60m for him, and Arsene is understandably refusing to pay that kind of money because he’s not an elite striker.
