Indeed Arsene Wenger is now a bullish manager in the transfer market and this is evident in the recent signing he’s made.
According to reports, Arsenal had a bid of £50million offered for Torino forward Andrea Belotti but the club’s sporting director confirmed that the same bid was rejected.
Arsene Wenger has remained coy over moves in the January transfer window but he’d like to strengthen in forward areas in order to play Alexis Sanchez in his preferred left wing position.
Belotti, 23, has scored 13 goals in 16 Serie A games this term and the Italian club value the forward at around £50m.
The striker has five caps for Italy and sporting director Gianluca Petrachi insists the club want to keep him and have rejected a bid from Arsenal.
‘Yes, we received the offer, but it does not reflect the value of the player,’ Petrachi told Sky Spor Italia.
‘Anyway, he is going nowhere for now. We want to enjoy him, then we’ll see what happens.
‘We intend to keep Belotti and President Urbano Cairo signed this important buy-out clause. I think he’s worth more than they have offered.’
