Arsenal Captain Thomas Vermaelen has revealed he will be back from injury soon. The Arsenal captain who has been out with an injury since June has offered Wenger something to cheer about after the French man failed to sign a centre back in the last tansfer with so many pointing at the central of Arsenal’s defense as the team’s weak link.
Vermaelen had aggravated a back problem in the summer which saw him miss the bulk of preseason games and the first few games of the current EPL season. Although he will not be able to play when Arsenal player Sunderland this Saturday but he is penned in to be back when Arsenal play West Brom away from home in the capital one cup later this month.
He said: “The West Brom game is a few weeks away yet and hopefully I will be closer to a return.
“I can’t put a date on my comeback. But I am really happy with how things are going so far.”
Arsenal were kicked out of the capital one club last season by supposed minnows Bradford but Vermaelen has stated that the club will be taking the competition professional this time.
He said: “It looks like a tough game but a nice game, too. It’s one we will take seriously.”
