The Daily Mirror are reporting that Arsenal and Manchester United are going head to head for the latest Dutch sensation, Jeroen Lumu.
The 18 year old, who plays in the Eredivise with Willem II, for the first team, can play on either wings, or up front, and has scored two goals, since breaking into the first team last year. The Gunners and Manchester United have both had him watched several times over the last season, and are reported to try to get him to England in this summer transfer window. The likes of Aston Villa and Fulham have been linked to the Dutchman in January. If Arsenal do get him, he would probably be playing for the reserves, due to the presence of some promising youngsters in the same positions, like Serge Gnabry and Chuba Akpom.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Arsenal have bid for Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo. Gustavo, who won the treble with Munich last season, is thought to be seen by Arséne Wenger as a great option to strengthen the defensive midfield region. Gustavo’s pass completion last season was only bettered by Xavi, which speaks volumes. And the Brazilian has spoken on his situation, calling Arsenal a ‘club with huge tradition’ and implying that he would love to join Arsenal.
