Arsenal are reportedly going to return to Monaco for Thomas Lemar in January but aren’t willing to fork out the £92m they tabled during the summer.

Arsenal are going to have another pop at signing Lemar in January. However, they’re not going to cough up the £92m they offered Monaco in August, claim the Daily Mail.

In September, Arsene Wenger confirmed the Gunners had offered the Ligue 1 club a whopping £92m on the final day of the transfer window in hope of signing Alexis Sanchez’s replacement. However, Lemar chose to stay in France and, as a result, we didn’t allow the Chilean to complete his £60m move to Manchester City.

“€100m for Lemar? Yes all true, I wanted him. He decided to stay at Monaco. We will come back for him,” the boss said in September.

While Wenger also claimed that Arsenal would return for the 22-year-old winger, it’s rare for the Frenchman to make such big signings in January.

Saying that, it depends if we allow Alexis to leave on a free at the end of the season or choose to cash in during the next window instead.

Lemar is currently out of action with a shoulder injury and hasn’t managed to replicate his impressive form from last season. He’s scored just once and provided three assists in 10 Ligue 1 appearances. However, he’ll still be a quality replacement when Alexis leaves and the France international is now apparently open to the move.
