French national team manager Didier Deschamps has heaped praises on the impact of Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in helping the French team find form at the tail end of the team’s world cup qualifying games. The Arsenal striker who only recently broke into the French team’s first 11 has been in an impressive form for the Les Bleus as they managed to secure a play off place after enduring a poor start.
Giroud was particularly impressive last Friday when France beat Australia 6-0 scoring a brace to cap off an impressive night for the French team. Giroud was played a part Joona Toivio’s own goal which helped the French team cruise to a fine 3-0 victory over Finland on Tuesday.
Having secured their place among the 8 teams to take partake in the play off after the victory of Ukraine in the penultimate round of qualifying games, France will have to navigate through a 2 leg match to secure their place in the world cup proper.
“There was good teamwork in our attack,” Deschamps said.
“Olivier Giroud had an important impact, a good presence, and he scored even the second goal even if he had been helped by the defender.
“Olivier is valuable when he works like that.”
