Arsenal’s pursuit for a new striker in this transfer window is really in top gear now as the club are set to get Lyon’s want-away striker Alexandre Lacazette. Arsenal are hoping to get Lacazette as an option in case the Kylian Mbappé move to The Emirates does not materialise, according to report in the French media.

Reports suggest that Arsenal have already opened talks with Lacazette and are ready to match Lyon’s £60 million valuation.

Early reports suggest that Spanish club Atletico Madrid were also in the running for the French striker but their recent transfer ban has cleared the way for other clubs to move for the striker.

The 28 goal in 30 games striker has long been linked to Arsenal in recent transfer windows and he’s a player Arsenal fans would love to see at their club before the start of next season.

What are the possibility of this deal going through? A move abroad and to one of the best stadiums in the world might just be an extra motivation for the striker.

However, Arsenal has to do a lot to convince him, with no Champions League football next season and an automatic walk into the first eleven is not guaranteed. Knowing Wenger’s admiration for a fit Danny Welbeck might also be a factor in the deal.

The transfer window has only just opened so it’s a little early to draw any conclusions yet and how the deal pans out will be an interesting thing to see.
