Arsenal will be disappointed to hear Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado could be staying in Turin, contrary to reports all summer that he’s been expendable.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via talkSPORT, the Colombian international is keen to fight for his place in the side next season, rather than be sold as previous reports had suggested. His chances of featuring on a more regular basis have improved following the departure of Dani Alves, meaning a £27m move to Arsenal is unlikely.

Cuadrado could now be an option for the right wing-back role at Juve, as well as an attacking winger, two positions Arsenal needed to strengthen. With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott’s futures in doubt at the Emirates, signing Cuadrado would have covered both roles.

However, a deal for the 29-year-old now looks unlikely, if it ever was close to happening between Juventus and the Gunners, with manager Massimiliano Allegri reticent to give up on him. The winger only signed a permanent deal last summer so the Serie A giants may give him a chance to prove his worth.

Juventus will want depth in their attack too, in order to compete on all four fronts in 2017/18/. The defending champions have added to their forwards with the likes of Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich and Federico Bernardeschi from Fiorentina but latest reports suggest the plan is to retain Cuadrado regardless.
