Arsenal have already made early moves in the transfer market to bring Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette to the Emirates Stadium and it seems Arsene Wenger will continue to land new names.
The next player set to arrive in North London is unlikely to make an immediate impression on the first-team though, as Dutch outlet Soccernews.nl reports Arsenal are close to signing highly-rated 16-year-old forward Joshua Zirkzee from Feyenoord.
Arsenal face competition in the market for the teenager, with Eredivisie giants Ajax also said to be chasing his signature, but the Gunners look set to win the race for a forward who scored a sensational 33 goals for Feyenoord’s youth ranks last season.
That return obviously caught the attention of big clubs and Arsenal are keen for him to continue his development at the Emirates Stadium, as they look to finally develop a top-class striker from within their own set-up.
The last young striker to successful make an impression in North London and secure a long future at the club was Zirkzee’s compatriot Robin Van Persie, who scored 132 goals to stand as the Gunners eighth all-time leading goalscorer.
