The 21 year old was at the centre of a racism row after tweeting how frustrated he was to be black, in a swipe appeared to be directed at the Arsenal manager.
The midfielder was not in the squad that faced Chelsea in yesterday’s Capital One Cup clash at the Emirates, a game the Gunners went on to lose 2-0, and it was believed Frimpong reacted angrily to that with his tweet.
But Wenger has denied those claims, adding that the situation has been resolved.
“No, he said it was a joke. I don’t know [that] has he a problem with England, with anybody else, with Arsenal. In fact he was on the list to be the 19th player, he was called up this morning but he was sick. So for us, he was selected,” said Wenger after the loss.
Frimpong might not have done himself any favours, irrespective of whether Arsene believes the Ghanaian was kidding or not, especially as his contract expires at the end of the season.
