Arsenal have handed key members of Arsene Wenger’s backroom staff new contracts to tie them down to the club, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claim on their website that the club have moved to keep a number of long standing members of the technical and coaching staff at the Emirates for the coming seasons.

The report states that goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton, who has been at the club since 2003, and fitness coach Tony Colbert, who has been a part of Wenger’s team for the past 19 years, have signed new deals, despite their positions previously being under scrutiny.

They will join Wenger and his most senior members of staff, assistant manager Steve Bould and first-team coach Boro Primorac, in committing to the club for at least the next two seasons.

Meanwhile former Crystal Palace and Newcastle goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman is a new arrival to the backroom team at Arsenal, and is said to have taken up a role working with the young goalkeeping talents at the club.

They have also hired former Liverpool fitness coach Darren Burgess for the role of director of high performance, but are still taking their time to decide on the right candidate to take the role of academy director.

The moves come as Arsenal look to overhaul their off-field structure, with a number of departures and arrivals from the backroom operations in order to provide effective support for the football team.
