Done & Dusted: Wenger Confirms Shock Deal For Two Players – Fans Will Be Excited

In time past, Arsenal were more involved in the sale of key players than than they bought a typified by the number of players that moved to rival clubs.

We lost  Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Van Persie, Sami Nasri, Gael Clichy and others to the cold hands of the transfer market. This player sale was done as that time to foot the bills for our Stadium project and pay other debts.

In 2013, against all the odds Arsene Wenger shattered the club’s transfer record and signed on Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and since then, we have had funds for transfer but have been somewhat frugal in the appropriation of the same funds for transfers. If the recklessness and insenstivity in the transfer market continues, Arsenal might lose of her key players sooner than later.

Reports making the rounds the morning reveals that Arsenal have not had breakthrough in their quest to renew the contracts of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. The aforementioned players have two years left on their contracts and have fervently postponed talks with Arsenal for an extension.

Asked whether the Gunners had made any progress in negotiations with either player, Wenger replied:

“No. We keep that internally. We make progress always but it’s not always a quick progress.

“There’s no urgency as well, they still have two years on their contracts. There’s no reason for Arsenal fans to get worried.

“At the moment we have priorities which are a bit different. Most of the time, contract extensions are done outside the transfer window to give you a bit more time and focus on that.”

Ozil joined Arsenal in a £42 million deal and currently earns £140,000-a-week while his counterpart Sanchez earns £140,000k-a-week.
