Arsenal contract rebel Alexis Sanchez has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Manchester City. The Gunners have turned down an opening offer worth £50m from the Mancunian outfit.

According to The Telegraph, the Citizens have offered the Chilen with a contract offer worth £325,000 a week which the 28-year-old has indeed accepted.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side are still far off from securing the attacker’s signature with their opening offer of £50m knocked back by the Gunners’ hierarchy.

The Gunners are said to want Raheem Sterling in a player-plus-cash deal for the former Barcelona man, but City, are for now, reluctant to lose any of their key players.

Sterling has made a bright start to the league campaign with two goals in three games, but he could potentially push for a move as Sanchez’s arrival could hamper his chances of regular game time.

Sanchez is understood to have asked permission to leave the Chile training camp due to personal reasons, and he is optimistic that there is some progress with regards to the City interest.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could have a stern test of resolve in the next 48 hours after having iterated all summer that Sanchez would be risked for the final year of his contract.

Apart from Sanchez, the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi could be shown the Emirates door before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Arsenal have made a poor start to the new league season with just one victory in their opening three games. As a result, the club are stranded in the bottom half of the table in 16th for the month of August.
