After having signed Granit Xhaka and Jamie Vardy looking like he will be a Gunner, every Arsenal fans and even neutrals agree Arsenal could do with the signing of another centre back. However, we have been dealt a major blow in a bid to bring in a truly reliable centre back that will partner Laurent Koscielny in the heart of our defense and solidify it.
Last week, there were many reports in both the Spaniash and the English papers that we are on the verge of signing Eric Bailly from Villa Real. Yes, the same Villa Real we signed Gabriel Paulista from. The player was said to be ready to move to the Emirates and Arsenal were said to have been watching him for the last three months.
However, Manchester United have now officially confirmed they have gotten the player and unless he is not given a work permit, he will be playing for the Red devils next season. United reportedly have paid 30 million to sign him.
Personally, I do not think we need a £30 million centre back but the way United have quickly moved behind the scene to sign the player ahead of us is quite impressive. It goes to show that Arsenal can do without all the drama when it comes to getting transfer deals done. No one knew of United’s interest in Eric Bailly last week but today, they have completed the signing of the player. If it were Arsenal, it would take at least four weeks or even more.
