Done deal? Wenger sanctions £55million deal for world class duo

Arsenal hopes to sign Premier League duo Riyad Mahrez and Ben Gibson this summer in a double swoop worth £55million, reports say.

The Arsenal boss knows reinforcements are needed after a largely underwhelming campaign, with the Gunners still in an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League.

And the Daily Express say Leicester playmaker Mahrez, who is rated at £30million, is at the top of the Frenchman’s wish-list.

The Algerian star enjoyed a sensational campaign last year, helping Leicester clinch a remarkable Premier League title.

It is believed a host of clubs are expressing an interest in Mahrez, who is said to be open to a summer move, with Paris Saint-Germain hoping to secure his services.

But Wenger is determined to land the 26-year-old and is also targeting a deal for Boro defender Gibson.

The Chelsea and Liverpool target is expected to be on the move come the summer after Middlesbrough’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed.
