Done Deal? Wenger Has Been Ordered To Complete £32m Deal For 6ft3 Attacker

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has urged Arsenal to hijack Crystal Palace’s move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke.

Redknapp suggested this in The London Evening Standard that Arsenal should consider signing the Belgian powerhouse before the end of the transfer window. He backed his claim with the fact that Benteke looked brilliant during his spell at Aston Villa and that he is better for value than Chelsea and Arsenal target, Romelu Lukaku.

But they do need a centre-forward and they need to push the boat out to get Christian Benteke”, the 69-year old ex-Portsmouth and West Ham boss wrote in The London Evening Standard.

“If I was at Arsenal, I’d consider it too. Benteke looked fantastic at Aston Villa but his confidence is on the floor after being dragged on and off at Liverpool.

“He needs a manager to build him up again, make him the main man and get him the service he needs.

“I don’t see Romelu Lukaku worth £60m and Benteke at £30m: if we are talking value, I’d have Benteke all day long. Palace need to get that deal done.”

There are reports of an agreement between Palace and Liverpool for the transfer of Benteke and, if Arsenal really want him all they need do is offer more than the reported £32m Alan Pardew’s side are paying for the Belgium international striker.

Benteke joined Liverpool from Villa in the summer of 2015 for a fee believed to be £32.5m and, the former Genk striker has scored 9 goals in 29 Premier League appearances for The Reds.
