Arsenal are confident of completing a deal for Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski, according to reports in Italy.
The Polish midfielder, who is set to represent his country in this summer’s World Cup, was a target for Liverpool a few summers ago but a deal was never finalised and he ended up going to Napoli.
Liverpool were linked with a move for the 23-year-old earlier this summer but they’ve seemingly moved on to other targets, giving Arsenal a free run at him.
Zielinski has a €65million exit clause in his contract and Arsenal are apparently willing to meet that figure, if the club’s new manager agrees to sanction a move for him.
The midfielder has only started 12 Serie A games for Napoli this season and as such, he could be looking for a move.
However, it’s unlikely that the Serie A giants will be willing to let him go on the cheap, so the Gunners will likely need to meet the release clause to get him.
