After heavily being involved in the summer transfer market, Arsene Wenger is now looking to extent the contract of his players that are running of their contract with Arsenal.
According to reports, Hector Bellerin has agreed a new deal with Arsenal, to ward off interest from Barcelona and Manchester City.
The development follows reports in Spain last week that suggested Barcelona have cooled their interest.
Spanish paper Sport reported that Nou Camp chiefs received ‘direct information’ that Bellerin was on the brink of signing a new contract.
Bellerin left Barcelona for Arsenal in 2011 and has firmly established himself as Arsene Wenger’s first-choice right-back.
It appears Bellerin is staying true to his word that a return to his boyhood club is not on the agenda.
“If I wanted to play there I would have stayed there,” he told the Evening Standard.
“I was very happy when Arsenal showed interest in me and I decided to come here.
“I’m not looking back, I’m just looking to help Arsenal.
