Arsenal have been handed a massive blow in signing Boca junior frontman Cristian Pavon.

Boca Juniors have responded to reported interest from Arsenal and Barcelona in star winger Cristian Pavón by offering him an improved contract at La Bombonera that will include a minimum release clause of 42.5 million euros, according to PlanetaBocaJuniors

Barcelona are ready to battle it out with Arsenal for Boca Juniors 22-year-old frontman Pavon.

He was part of Argentina’s World Cup squad – although he failed to make much of an impact in Russia.

Boca Juniors club president Daniel Angelici confirmed the news, in quotes reported on the Argentinian outlet’s website.

“Pavón stays, he’s signed for four more years,” he revealed. “The clause is 50 million euros, which was what we wanted to be calm. We wanted to sell him when we know that it’s the right moment. So, for now, we want Boca fans to enjoy it (Pavon’s presence in the team).

“We talked with his representative, with him and his family and we reached an agreement. He knows that his future in the short and medium term is in Europe, but now he’s happy and makes the Boca fans happy. They love him so much.”

He bagged seven goals and registered 19 assists in 32 games last season.
