Arsenal are set to annouce a deal for their fourth signing of the summer but for a promising star, Kelechi Nwakali of Nigeria, per Africa Football.
The 18-year-old Nigerian youngster drew interest from Arsenal following his stellar midfield performance in the u17 Championship. Arsenal tried to sign him at that time but he did not have a work permit as at that time and was 17 years.
He also drew interest from Manchester United but the maverick midfielder says he fancies joining Arsenal giving the club’s fluid style of play.
The report suggests Nwakali is in London and will sign with the Gunners by 3pm this afternoon after apparently agreeing a pre-contract in January.
Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market but have so far completed the signing of Granit Xhaka for the senior team. however that has been supplemented with a series of investments in youth players such as Japan striker Takuma Asano and former Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding.
Nwakali led the Golden Eaglet to winning the Championship and he ended the competition as most valuable player despite playing from midfield.
Last month, Nigeria academy side Diamond CEO Emeka Amajiriaku was quoted as saying: “Arsenal have informed us that Kelechi has been handed the number 25 jersey.
