Arsenal hopes of signing Valencia’s Jose Gaya has been squashed after the left back signed a new five-year deal at the club, according to talkSport.
The 22-year-old has been tracked by the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid after a very impressive season with Valencia in the La Liga, making 38 appearances in all competition and helping Valencia back into the Champions league ahead of next season.
Jose Mourinho has been looking to sign a left back as his current left backs are set to leave the club this summer after failing to impress him, and the club had identified Gaya as one of their targets.
While Atletico Madrid and Arsenal had been tracking him as a long term replacement for their respective aging left backs Filipe Luis and Nacho Monreal.
The defender has snubbed a potential big money move and has signed a new five-year deal, thereby committing his long term future to the club where he started his career.
His buyout clause has reportedly been raised to £88 million in the new contract, which will effectively ward off the interest of all three sides interested in him.
