According to ESPN, Arsenal have suffered a massive blow in signing Raphaël Guerreiro from Lorient.
Borussia Dortmund have snapped up the Portugal left-back Raphaël Guerreiro from Lorient on a four-year contract.
The 22-year-old signed for the Bundesliga giant after being linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.
Guerreiro is currently with the Portugal squad at Euro 2016 and played the full 90 minutes of Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Iceland.
Dortmund reportedly paid €12 million for their sixth new signing of the summer.
Dortmund Sporting Director, Michael Zorc confirmed this when he told the club’s official website:
“Raphael Guerreiro is a technically-skilled player who feels at home in several positions
“We are very happy that he has chosen Borussia Dortmund.”
Arsene Wenger has frequently sent scouts to monitor the Portuguese international due to Doubts over Kieran Gibbs’ long-term future at the Emirates and now he has suffered a huge blow to that intention.
This is the second player Arsene Wenger has chased who has ditched the club to sign for another; the first was Nigerian starlet Samuel Chukwueze who recently signed for Porto.
