Among the top Premier League clubs, Arsenal have been one of the most busy clubs in this year’s transfer window. A complete divorce from what we saw last summer.
United shattered the world transfer record and landed France international Paul Pogba. The deal for the Pogba came after the signing of Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly.
Nonetheless, Arsenal become very pragmatic late in the window, with two deals sealed for La Liga stars Mustafi and Perez, who will both join the club after the international.
Doubt were cast over the future of Mesut Ozil initially but Arsenal are now working on an improved deal for the player.
According to German outlet Bild, the 27-year-old has been offered a new £200,000-a-week deal to become the highest paid player in the Gunners’ history.
When asked about his future at Arsenal a few weeks ago, Ozil refused to give too much away about negotiations with the club.
“I still have two years contract with Arsenal.” the former Real Madrid star said
“We will be in talks with the club [about a new contract] and we will see what happens.”
You cannot dismiss the possibility that Mesut Ozil was keenly observing our transfer activities, to see if the club will add quality players that can guarantee winning titles.
The recent signing of Mustafi, his compatriot, would be another reason he wants to stay at the club beyond his current contract.
