Arsenal have been drawn into an off-field battle with Premier League Champions for the transfer of Las Palmas Roque Mesa.
The 27 year old former Levante B midfielder drew attraction from Leicester and Arsenal after impressing for Athletico Baleares last season.
The report claims that Arsenal and Leicester City have made enquiries over the availability of the player as they prepare a January swoop for the Spaniard.
Mesa linked up with the La Liga minnows when they were still in the second division six years ago.
And he has gone on to establish himself in Quique Setien’s team having helped them secure promotion to the top flight at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
Last season he made 34 appearances for Las Palmas as they secured an unexpected 11th place finish.
And his performances seemingly caught the eye of Sevilla, with a move to the reigning Europa League winners mooted earlier this summer.
However, it seems a switch to England could be on the cards for Mesa come the turn of the year.
COPE says Las Palmas are currently attempting to convince the Telde-born ace to extend his stay at the Estadio Gran Canaria.
