Cristiano Ronaldo has vented his anger at Real Madrid’s decision to sell Mesut Özil to Arsenal. The Portuguese was with the national team when he heard about the sale of the German and has not reacted well.
He told team-mates Fabio Coentrao and Pepe he was unhappy with Özil’s departure.
“Özil leaving is bad news for me. He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal.”
Other members of the Portuguese national team have seen a change in the Ronaldo’s mood since he has been training with them, stating he looks visibly unhappy.
His reaction is understandable, over half of his goals last season were assisted by the German and other Madrid starts such as Sergio Ramos and Alvaro Arbeloa have also voiced their disappointment in the sale of Özil.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who coached the player last season at Madrid, said the playmaker was one of a kind.
“Özil is unique. There is no copy of him – not even a bad one. He is the best number 10 in the world. He makes things very easy for me and for his team-mates with his football vision and the decisions he makes.”
“We didn’t accept Arsenal’s offer for Demba Ba because the signing of Özil makes them title contenders.”
