Arsenal are “likely” to be able to conclude a deal to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria this summer, according to Sky Sportsreporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move to bring the 22-year-old midfielder to The Emirates this summer as Unai Emery looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Torreira is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup but Arsenal are believed to be in talks to try and bring him to The Emirates this summer.
Now, Sky Sports News reporter Sheth has revealed that Arsenal are likely to be able to tie up a deal to bring Torreira to The Emirates this summer as their fourth summer signing.
Speaking to the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Sheth said: “It looks more likely. Arsenal are in negotiations with Sampdoria.
“We are told personal terms won’t be an issue. Arsenal have been clever because they were negotiating this deal before the World Cup. His value could have doubled or trebled.”
Arsenal have so far officially completed three new signings this summer after having tied up deals for Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The Gunners are looking to assemble a squad at least capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
The north London side ended up in sixth place in the table last term and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign in charge.
