REAL MADRID skipper Sergio Ramos has told Florentino Perez to sell Karim Benzema to Arsenal, it has been claimed.
Benzema has been frequently linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the years but a transfer has never come to fruition.
Arsenal’s big-money signings of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would appear to suggest a new striker is not on Arsene Wenger’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
But, according to Spanish publication Diario Gol, the Gunners fancy swooping for Benzema.
It is claimed that Arsenal are the only major club to have expressed an interest and are willing to launch a £34.8million (€40m) bid.
However, the Premier League side’s valuation of Benzema falls well short of Real Madrid’s reported £70m (€80m) asking price.
An unnamed Chinese Super League club met Los Blancos’ demands but Benzema has no interest in heading to the Far East.
Bernabeu transfer fixer Perez could struggle to sell the 30-year-old target man unless he drops his demands.
According to Diario Gol, Ramos caught wind of Arsenal’s proposal.
And he reportedly suggested to Perez to accept their offer.
Benzema has been criticised by Real Madrid fans for a poor season in front of goal.
The France international has hit the back of the net just five times in La Liga but insists he does not care about personal glory.
