Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of ace midfielder Max Meyer after the Germany midfielder rejected a new deal with the German club.

Meyer has been an integral part of Domenico Tedesco’s side this season. The 22 year-old has been utilised as a midfield anchor and has excelled in his new role.

The Germany international’s current deal with the Bundesliga outfit expires in the summer and the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and even Barcelona are now circling. All have sent scouts out to run the rule over the ace.

Meyer, who has been with apart of the set up at Schalke for nine years, has reportedly rejected a £5million-a-year deal at the Veltins Arena.

The playmaker could be Arsenal’s plan b instead of teammate Leon Goretzka. The 23 year-old appears to be Bayern Munich bound at the end of the season for a free transfer.
