Arsenal have been installed as bookies favourites to sign Manchester United centre back Phil Jones, according to the Daily Star.
The England international is under pressure at Old Trafford due to inconsistent performances and United could cash in on him in the summer. The likelihood of the defender switching clubs is high because his contract expires in the summer of 2019.
Arsenal are expected to chase at least one centre back in the summer and bookmakers Coral have listed to Jones as one of Arsenal’s possible targets.
“ Arsenal have been heavily backed in the market for Phil Jones’ next club and it looks as though if he does move on then The Gunners are in pole position to snap him up,” Coral spokesman Harry Aitkenhead said.
Jones has never been able to enjoy a long-spell in Man Utd’s first team because of injuries and inconsistent performances.
He’s been in and out of the first team over there, so a move away might just be the best but I don’t think Arsenal should be looking to sign him up.
Although, Jones can be a nightmare on his day but such days are usually few in a season. Not to mention, he can actually get injured when you least expect.
