Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Arsene Wenger’s favourite striker.
According to report,
ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE is waiting for the right moment to leave Lyon, according to former team-mate Samuel Umtiti.
Alexandre Lacazette has long-been linked with a move to the Premier League due to his impressive goalscoring record in France.
The 25-year-old has scored 17 times in 16 Ligue 1 appearances this season and is said to be on Arsenal’s radar.
The Gunners reportedly saw a bid rejected by Lyon for Lacazette last summer, but according to his former team-mate Samuel Umtiti, he still wants to leave the club.
“I have a lot of respect for Lyon, they’re one of the biggest French clubs,” Umtiti told TV Channel Canal+.
“But there will come a time when he could leave to improve.
“He’ll have that desire, I know his character. He’s waiting for the right moment.”
If Lacazette leaves Lyon in the summer he will be following in the footsteps of Umtiti who join Barcelona following an impressive Euro 2016 campaign with France.
“I could never stop [being a Lyon fan], I’ll be a Gone until the end of my days,” Umtiti added.
“It was always a dream for me to play here [at Barca]. I must be the happiest man in the world.”
