Sky Italia reports claim that Arsene Wenger is set to land Inter Millan defender Jeison Murillo. Arsenal will have to battle with European giants Bayern Munich and Zenit St Petersburg for the signature of the Serie A defender.
Arsenal has had a very porous defence in recent years and Wenger would be looking to plug the leaks in his defense that has cost his side winning crucial games and a Premier league title since moving to the Emirates.
Murillo who was snapped up from Granada last year for €10m, including bonuses, has since seen his price-tag sky-rocketed to €20m. The 24-year-old centre-back has been identified as the man to help put some steel in Arsenal’s defence and is vey keen to move to the Emirates.
The Colombian international has enjoyed a debut season with Inter Milan making 34 appearances, scoring 2 goals and making an assist. He is also known for his lack of discipline, receiving three Serie A red cards and one in his only Coppa Italia game appearance.
Inter Milan are said to have already started scouting for Murillo’s replacement and have identified Ezequiel Garay as the ideal replacement. Wenger is said to have had talks with the player agents and looks like both party have agreed terms
