Despite Arsene Wenger repeatedly saying that Arsenal won’t be signing anyone in January, there are certain rumours that just will not go away.
One such rumour is that Arsenal are looking to hijack Everton’s bid for Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal. According to The Sun, the representatives of the 24-year-old Algerian have been in touch with Arsenal about a possible move in the summer.
Ghezzal, currently on international duty with Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, turned down a £12m move to Everton last year because he wanted to play for a bigger club.
Everton still have designs on signing the winger when his contract expires at the end of the season though, with Monaco also among the interested parties.
Arsenal have previous in hijacking transfers of players bound for Goodison Park – last summer they pipped Everton to the signing of Spanish forward Lucas Perez at the 11th hour.
