According to FC Inter News, Arsenal are now joining Inter Milan and Juventus in the race to sign Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, who has recently been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

Andersen, 22, emerged in his native Denmark with Midtjylland, and moved on to FC Twente in 2013, picking up nearly 50 appearances in his four years in Enschede.

The 6ft 4in defender moved on to Sampdoria in the summer of 2017 after Twente hit financial problems, and he has impressed since his move to Italy.

Andersen – who has yet to win a senior cap for Denmark – has played eight Serie A games this season, and his form has been attracting interest.

Tutto Mercato Web reported last month that Tottenham Hotspur are keen to land Andersen, as they consider young defenders to potentially succeed Toby Alderweireld in the heart of defence.

Now though, FC Inter News report that Arsenal are muscling in on their interest, with Inter Milan and Juventus also interested in signing Andersen in 2019 after earning comparisons to Inter and ex-Sampdoria star Milan Skriniar.

Tottenham may have hoped that Andersen would fly under the radar, but more and more clubs are seemingly joining the race for his signature, and they certainly won’t want to lose out to bitter rivals Arsenal.

With Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen both around their 30’s, Andersen may have greater first team prospects at Tottenham, and as a potential star centre back of the future, the two North London rivals may go head to head for Anderson next year.
