AC Milan could sell Andre Silva just a year after signing him, according to reports.
Milan signed the Portuguese forward in the summer for £33m as part of their summer spending spree. According to the Daily Star, though, they may end up having to sell should they be unable to secure Champions League football this season.
They report that Arsenal will be on hand to sign the 21-year-old should Milan require to sell him. With Alexis Sanchez set to leave the club, Arsenal will need a forward to replace him. However, there are a number of pieces that have to fall into place for this deal to happen.
Milan’s transfer spending was funded by their new Chinese owners and allowed them to sign players such as Silva without Champions League football in the first place. While the start of their seasonsuggests they’re a long way off Champions League qualification, there are still many games left to be played.
The Star reports that Silva was a major target for Arsenal in the summer. However, the fact that we signed Alexandre Lacazette for more money suggests otherwise.
Silva scored 24 goals in 58 appearances for Porto before joining Milan, where’s scored six in 10 games. However, he’s yet to find the net in Serie A. He’s been in prolific form for Portugal, scoring 11 goals in 17 games.
