The media wave was awash with reports that Chilean international Alexis Sanchez has suffered a low grade muscle tear, but the extent of the injury has not been determined.
Sanchez has been involved in almost all of Arsenal’s games this term and completed the 90mins against Tottenham last weekend but he was forced off Chile’s training camp on Tuesday after complaining about a calf problem.
We Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain after the international break, before crucial games against West Ham and Basel.
His absence for us will certainly be the biggest blow for us as we will be without him in our upcoming fixtures and the Chilean FA have confirmed that the forward’s suffered a low grade tear in his calf.
A statement from the ANFP, Chile’s national football association, read:
‘The medical team of the Chilean national team can confirm Alexis Sanchez has a low grade muscle tear.
‘The player will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation, ahead of Chile’s match against Uruguay.’
There is no telling how long we will be without him but he may be out for between 3-4 months.
