ARSENAL are keeping a close eye on Eric Bailly’s situation at Manchester United.
Bailly has played just five times for Man United this season and was fazed out at the back end of the previous campaign too.
It’s left the Ivorian wondering what future he has at the club under Jose Mourinho, who made the centre-back his first signing as United boss in the summer of 2016.
Bailly didn’t even make it to half-time in the club’s last match before the international break at home to Newcastle.
He was embarrassingly hauled off after just 19 minutes at Old Trafford after the visitors raced into a 2-0 lead.
Starsport understand Bailly has been feeling increasingly disillusioned with life under Mourinho and fears for his future.
Arsenal could provide a passage out of the club, with coach Unai Emery knowing him well from his time in Spain.
United signed Bailly from Villarreal and he previously turned out for Espanyol.
Emery came up against him while in charge at Valencia and Sevilla and could now push to work with the 24-year-old at the Emirates.
Arsenal need a long-term replacement for captain Laurent Koscielny, and the Ivory Coast international could fit the bill.
Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Sokratis and Konstantinos Mavropanos are other defenders on the books, along with Callum Chambers who is at Fulham on loan for the season.
Emery may push Gunners top brass for an established name to bolster his options, particuarly if a title challenge is on the cards come January.
Arsenal went into the international break on the back of a run of nine straight victories in all competitions.
