There are reports this morning that Chelsea are preparing a January bid for AS Monaco midfielder Lucas Ocampos as they have finally given up on Juan Mata. Italian media out let CalcioMercato report that the blues showed interest in the player in the just concluded transfer but the talks were ended when Chelsea signed Willian from Anzhi.
Daily star are also reporting that Chelsea have re-initiated contact with Monaco with the hope of signing the Argentine as a replacement for Juan Mata. The paper also reports should Chelsea succeed in their attempt to sign Lucas Ocampos, Juan Mata will be allowed to join any club he wants as Mourinho does not rate him.
Arsenal are said to be the forerunners for Mata’s signature as the gunners during the last window already talked to his agent/father and even invited him to the Emirates which was confirmed by Wenger himself.
Although Arsenal signed Ozil in the last window and ordinarily, Arsenal do not need Mata, Wenger is however reportedly keen on the player as he prefers having play markers on the wing which is a role Mata can play effectively.
