Petr Cech admits Alexandre Lacazette‘s failure to take his chances cost Arsenal in their defeat to Tottenham. Harry Kane’s superb header in the second half secured victory for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side at Wembley on Saturday. But Arsene Wenger’s side had the opportunity to snatch at least a draw as Lacazette squandered two excellent chances in front of goal late in the game. Lacazette ballooned his first effort high over the bar from Hector Bellerin’s cross, while after being put through on goal by Alex Iwobi, the France striker scuffed his shot wide of Hugo Lloris’ post. ‘In this type of game you need to take your chances, and I know we had two at the end,’ Cech said after Arsenal’s defeat.
But unfortunately we did not take them. ‘As I said before the game, it was a game which had a huge importance.
‘Not only because it was a north London derby and obviously this is the most important game for Arsenal fans. ‘But obviously for the position in the table we were behind, we needed to close the gap and we’ve failed to do so.’
