Arsene Wenger has taken his search for a new striker to Germany according to emerging reports from Thursday.

The Arsenal manager is believed to be targeting the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette so far as the future of Alexis Sanchez remains unresolved.

However, Wenger appears to have been hit by the concern that last summer’s situation which saw him fail to land any of his main targets could repeat itself.

Thus, according to German outlet Bild, the Gunners have now joined the race for the signing of Robert Lewandowski.

The 28-year-old, who moved to the Allianz Arena from Dortmund back in the summer of 2014, is considering a departure this summer and Arsenal are reportedly readying a move for him.

Bayern have made it clear in the past that Lewandowski, a man currently pocketing $182,000-per-week in wages, is not available for sale but the German side may be tempted by a heavy offer.

The Polish striker, who is valued at a staggering $88.4 million (£68 million) by transfermarkt, finished last season as the second top scorer in the Bundesliga with 30 goals.

With Bayern also eying a deal for Sanchez, Arsenal might just have a chance in pursuing the German champions’ own star goalscorer.
