RIYAD MAHREZ still wants to leave Leicester City this month.
The Algerian has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool before the January transfer window closes.
But Foxes boss Claude Puel has always insisted Mahrez wants to remain at Leicester despite the transfer speculation.
As talk was beginning to go cold on the winger leaving the King Power Stadium, both Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a transfer boost.
According to Algerian journalist Nabil Djellit, who writes for France Football, Mahrez is still eyeing a swift exit.
And the writer claims the player has an agreement in place with the Leicester board that will allow him to move this month.
On Twitter, Djellit wrote: “Riyad #Mahrez always wants to leave Leicester. He has a good release of its president.”
It would come as no surprise if Mahrez was to leave the club in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old almost completed a deadline day exit from Leicester in the summer.
And it appears the arrival of Puel has failed to change his mind.’
“When I discussed things with him, he had a good attitude and is enjoying his football. He is a happy player and likes to play with his teammates.
“His statistics have improved, with assists and scoring. Of course I want him to continue all this good work.”
Arsenal fans will be hoping a move for Mahrez is completed swiftly as Alexis Sanchez prepares to leave the Emirates.
While Liverpool may be tempted to spend some of the £142m recouped from Philippe Coutinho’s Barcelona transfer.
