Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that he almost left Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Dortmund striker Aubameyang was apparently closer to a summer move than move of us thought. However, unfortunately it wasn’t to Arsenal, it was AC Milan.
“It’s true, (AC) Milan contacted me and offered me something,” he told RMC, reports Metro.
“I was very interested in their project, but it didn’t go through for many different reasons.”
The Gunners were linked with the 28-year-old after he scored a staggered 40 goals in 46 appearances last season. Dortmund were also open to selling, as long as it was before they left for pre-season in June, and the player confessed he was ready for a ‘new challenge’.
However, the Gabon international was instead mulling over a move to Milan.
A move obviously never materialised but considering Aubameyang only has three years left on his deal with Dortmund, you have to imagine that Milan, given his interest, could return for their man.
The striker has managed to score 12 goals in nine appearances already this term and if it wasn’t for his £70m price tag, perhaps Arsenal would have moved for him.
Aubameyang played for Milan when he was younger between 2007 and 2011, so it’s understandable that he would feel a pull back there. He’s been in the Bundesliga four years after signing from Saint-Étienne.
Aubameyang was also linked with Chelsea and Liverpool as well as China over the summer.
