Following the recent comment of Lyon’s president over Arsenal’s interest in Aleksandre Lacazette, Monsieur Wenger has respond in similar tune, reports the Express.
Arsenal had seen an offer of €35million (£29.3m) rebuffed by the French club. Lyon published on the website that Arsenal had formally bidded for the player but they are unwilling to let the player of their radar.
“Lyon will keep Lacazette, who is irreplaceable and one of the leading players in Bruno Genesio’s squad.” Per club’s Wenbsite.
Wenger is desperately on the search for a world class striker and he recently revealed that he will add another experienced attacker to his team.
Wenger was quizzed about the statement of Lyon’s president and Wenger sounded somewhat exasperated when he replied:
“Lyon is responsible for their own statements,” he said. On the transfer front, I think the best [option] is always to keep as secret as possible.
“If we sign somebody, we will announce it. But I cannot tell you much more on that.”
However, Lacazette is not the only player on the transfer list of Arsenal. We are also looking to sign Mahrez, who will definitely offer more creative options in the attack of Arsenal.
