Arsenal are set to go in battle with Everton for the signature of West Brom and England under 21 player Saido Berahino who scored against Arsenal in the capital one cup last Wednesday and also scored the winner against Manchester United last weekend. According to daily mail, the player currently earns £850-per-week and his contract is set to expire in the summers and this alerted the gunners and Everton who are both keen on the player.
The player also reports that West Brom’s manager Steve Clarke is already working on offering the player a new contract with improved terms but he retains the fear of losing the player for a paltry £300,000 in compensation which is part of the agreement the player had with the club when signing his current contract.
According to the player, West Brom secretly believe they will have little chance of keeping the player as a result of the type of wages Arsenal especially can offer the player which West Brom can’t afford.
Saido Berahino join West Brom’s academy in 2004 after flying in from the then warn torn Burundi at a tender age of 10. Although he is still able to play for Burundi, he has so far represented England at under 21 level.
