Arsenal are reportedly close to completing yet another major summer transfer deal. It is expected that the club will announced the signing Granit Xhaka later today or at least this week and if a report by Football Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli is anything to go by, the Gunners are close to agreeing a deal that will see Riyad Mahrez move to the Emirates stadium this month.
Football Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli had revealed on twitter that Arsenal are in talks to sign the Algerian but he has now confirmed to Metro that the talks are actually now in advance stage and there is a real chance that Mahrez will in a couple of days become a Gunner.
Leicester City were said to have asked for Theo Walcott in exchange for their star player but Walcott has made it clear he is not ready to leave London any time soon. Although Arsenal fans will want Walcott who earns 140,000 a week to leave the club, they won’t mind keeping him if they are still certain of getting Mahrez who will reduce the Englishmand to a mere bench warmer.
It should however be noted that last summer, Emanuele Giulianelli insisted Karim Benzema had agreed a deal with Arsenal when that was never the case. However, if you consider the fact that Ranieri had officially confirmed in April that he will not stand in the way of any of this player that wants to leave the King Power stadium, then one will agree there is a possibility that Mahrez will be playing in Arsenal colours next season.
