British tabloids are reporting that German side Wolfsburg have agreed to let go of the services of left back Ricardo Rodriguez after he confirmed his interest in joining the Gunners.
Rodriguez, like other players has been linked with Arsenal, and there are strong indications that Arsenal is set to trigger his release clause just like they did for Jamie Vardy. The reports has now been fuelled by the player himself who was quoted by the papers that he would love to follow his International team mate Granit Xhaka to London. Incidentally, they both share the same room on International duty.
When questioned about joining the Gunners, Rodriguez said:
“That would be exciting, yes, especially because the room arrangement at Arsenal would be fixed as well.”
Klaus Allofs, Wolfsburg’s sporting director revealed to Metro that they have agreed to sell Rodriguez after he made it clear he wants to leave this summer. Rodriguez’s imminent arrival would pose a greater threat to Keiran Gibbs who has already lost his first team place to Nacho Monreal. Liverpool are said to be interested in signing Kieran Gibbs and should Rodriguez sign, it will not be a surprise to see the English defender leave Arsenal.
