Arsenal and Germany’s defender Per Mertesacker is ill and is very unlikely to travel with Arsenal’s squad for the game against Sunderland away from home tomorrow. BBC reporter, David Ornstein made the claim this afternoon via his twitter account. If it is true that Mertesacker is out of the match against Sunderland tomorrow, it will be a big blow for Arsene Wenger and his team.
The big German has formed a very formidable defense with French star Laurent Kosicelny in the last few months. Although judging by Wenger’s pre match press conference, Thomas Vermaelen is likely to be in the squad for the match against Sunderland, it is however unlikely that the Belgian will see any action against Sunderland as he certainly will lack match fitness.
Bacary Sagna who has been playing the Centre back role for Arsenal in the last couple of games is likely to be draft into the centre while England defender Carl Jenkinson players as right back.
